The G20 Compact with Africa (CwA) is the central pillar of the G20 Africa Partnership. Established in the finance track during the German G20 presidency in 2017, the objective is to enable private sector-led development in reform-minded African countries through improved framework conditions for private investment, including in infrastructure. Germany and South Africa serve as Co-Chairs of the G20 working group „Africa Advisory Group (AAG)“ that is tasked with monitoring progress and advancing CwA implementation in a joint effort by African governments, International Organizations, and development partners from G20 members and beyond. Under the Japanese G20 presidency, Head of States as well as Finance Ministers & Central Bank Governors have underlined their continued support for the CwA-initiative.
